Here's a link that version I was referencing in class. It's from 1948 and has some fabulous old commercials in the opening.

oooooooo Agnes Moorehead gives me shivers in a wonderful way. "But I don't really think that." Her voice makes me want to read the piece over again to see if I can detect that bitterness in it. How much is craft and how much is script?
ReplyDeleteThis is insanely creepy, Dr. H!! The music in the beginning certainly put the listener into the "scary movie mode" of listening to this. The bells while the radio voice is introducing the story also help with the "scary" vibe. If I have my future students read the story, I will also have them listen to this.
