Personally, I think that the other couple merely represents the idea of the grass always being greener on the other side. Generally, when faced with difficult times, couples will often look at others who appear to be happy and question themselves as to why that is not the case for them. However, it is important to note that everyone has their problems, they are just not usually public knowledge.
I think maybe she started the game of truths because maybe deep down she was hoping she was secretly hoping he'd say something that would make her want to stay.
